Dr Stefan Zagelmeyer is Professor of Human Resource Management at the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef-Bonn, Germany, and Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management at the School of Management and Governance of the University of Twente, the Netherlands. He holds appointments as visiting professor at Sorbonne Universities (CIFFOP, France), the Grenoble Ecole de Management (France) and the Turku School of Economics (Finland). Dr Zagelmeyer has acted as consultant to European Union institutions and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
He is active member of several working groups of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Personalfuehrung (DGFP), the German branch of the European Association for People Management, and co-coordinator of the HRM Study Group of the International Employment and Industrial Relations Association (ILERA), a global network of academics and HR practitioners linked to the International Labour Organization (ILO).
He is currently working on topics related to innovation, employee participation, restructuring , mergers & acquisitions, international human resource management, and leadership. He has published refereed articles in International Journal of Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal, European Journal of Industrial Relations, International Journal of Manpower, Journal of Industrial Relations, and International Business Review.
Prior to his current position he was employed as Professor of Economics and HRM and Dean at Cologne Business School (2008), as Professor of Economics and HRM at the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef-Bonn, Germany (2004-2008), and as Lecturer in HRM at Manchester School of Management (now Manchester Business School), UMIST, UK (2002-2004). From 2000 to 2002, he worked as researcher at the Department of Economics, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. He was Research Associate at Darwin College and Marie-Curie-Fellow at the Department of Applied Economics, University of Cambridge, UK (2001), and Visiting Lecturer in HRM at the Graduate School of Business, University of Stellenbosch, South Africa (2000). From 1997 to 2000, he worked at the Max-Planck-Institute for the Study of Societies and the Cologne Institute for Economic Research, Germany.
Dr. Zagelmeyer studied Economics (Dipl.-Volkswirt) at the University of Cologne, Germany, and Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations (MSc) at the London School of Economics, UK. In 2002, he was awarded a PhD (Dr. rer. pol.) by the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany.
